HAMPTON, Ga. - Hall of Fame Racing officials have not informed Joe Gibbs Racing whether the team will remain affiliated with JGR and move to Toyota next season, but JGR has no indication that it won't.
Hall of Fame Racing buys chassis, bodies and engines from JGR, which announced last month that it was switching to Toyota. Hall of Fame has yet to make a final decision, according to the team.
"The conversations we've had so far would indicate they will be back with us," JGR Senior Vice President Jimmy Makar said Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. "I'm expecting them to be there. I think they are still looking at some different options, but from what I understand, we're probably going to be where they will end up."
Tyler Epp, general manager for Hall of Fame Racing, said a decision will come soon. The team was bought in August by Arizona Diamondback executives Tom Garfinkel and Jeff Moorad.
"Joe Gibbs Racing has been a great partner for us the last 18 months and we will hopefully continue to have that opportunity to work with them in the future," Epp said. "[The owners] are working hard on it. There's no glitches. There's no issues. It's just a matter of making the best decision long-term for this race team."
