Mike Bliss has settled his breach-of-contract lawsuit with Haas CNC Racing, Bliss' attorney confirmed Thursday.

The case was scheduled to go to trial this week in North Carolina Superior Court in Charlotte.

"We amicably resolved the case," Bliss attorney Robert Muckenfuss said.

Bliss had signed a three-year contract to drive in Nextel Cup from 2005-2007 and was told in October 2005 that he would be released at the end of the season, according to his complaint. Bliss, who claimed that he had been assured earlier in the season that he would be the driver in 2006, was seeking $1.15 million in salary for the final two years of the deal.

The team argued in court documents that it properly invoked a clause in the contract that allowed Bliss to be terminated at the end of any season without the team having to pay the remainder of the deal.

The terms of the settlement are confidential, Muckenfuss said.
