HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Star Motorsports has signed Jorge Goeters as the team's Busch Series driver for 2007. The team hopes to start running in NASCAR next season.
Goeters will also compete in selected ARCA races, the team said. Goeters has raced in one Nextel Cup and six Busch races in his brief career, with four of those races on road courses. The Mexico City native won the pole for the inaugural Busch race at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in 2005. He finished ninth at Watkins Glen that year, his best career finish.
Sean Holley founded the team in 2004, partnering with NFL star Steve Smith, actors and comedians the Wayans brothers and actor/comedian Tommy Davidson.
"I like the foundation of Star Motorsports - they bring a new approach to the racing arena, and I am proud to be a part of their initiative to bring diversity to NASCAR and the racing industry itself," Goeters said in a statement released by the team.
