Bill Elliott will attempt to make his fourth start for Michael Waltrip Racing this weekend in the Sony HD 500 Nextel Cup race at California Speedway but says he still isn't sure what he will do next season.
Elliott, the 1988 series champion, isn't locked in the field and two-time champ Terry Labonte, whose most recent title came in 1996, could use the past champion's provisional. In his three starts for MWR, Elliott has finishes of 35th, 32nd and 22nd.
"We've got a better car for California Speedway," Elliott said during a conference call with reporters Tuesday. "They've gained on it [at the shop], and at least they have had a little bit of more time to work on things."
The semi-retired Elliott still has one more race for MWR and then three for Team Red Bull this year. He said he was undecided on his 2007 plans.
"I honestly don't know. I'm trying to sort through some stuff right now and try to figure out where I'm going to land," Elliott said.
