NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers Kasey Kahne, Bill Elliott, Greg Biffle, Robby Gordon and Casey Mears are scheduled to take part in the Aug. 31 Mopar D1 All-Star Duel at Irwindale Speedway in California.
The exhibition pits eight Nextel Cup drivers against eight D1 Professional Drift Grand Prix Series drivers. Vaughn Gittin Jr., Rhys Millen, Samuel Hubinette, Yasuyuki Kazama and Ken Nomura are already pledged to the D1 team.
The NASCAR drivers will compete in drift cars provided by D1.
An autograph session is part of the event, and all proceeds will benefit the Kasey Kahne Foundation, which supports charitable organizations that care for chronically ill children and their families.
"I grew up racing sideways around dirt tracks in an 800-horsepower Sprint car," Kahne said in a news release. "Drifting looks like so much fun, and my NASCAR buddies are jumping at the opportunity to whip some of these cars around."
Fans can visit www.modified.com for a chance to win airfare and accommodations for two to the event.
