LONG POND, Pa. - NASCAR officials took the left-front tire from the Busch Series car of Clint Bowyer in order to do a more detailed inspection following the Goody's 250 Saturday at Martinsville.
Richard Childress Racing Vice President of Competition Mike Dillon said Sunday the valve stem was leaking air and NASCAR wanted to examine it.
"They wanted to see if we had done anything [to the tire]," Dillon said. "We haven't. We should be all right. It probably was a bad seal or something."
NASCAR has been on the lookout for teams putting tiny leaks in tires in order to keep air pressure the same as the tire heats up during competition.
Bowyer finished second in the race behind RCR teammate Kevin Harvick.
