CONCORD, N.C. -- While saying there is an out in his contract if he wished to exercise it, Elliott Sadler said Thursday he has no intention of leaving Robert Yates Racing.
With Dale Jarrett already leaving at season's end to go to Michael Waltrip's Toyota team, speculation has now transferred to teammate Sadler.
"I'm not unhappy; I'm just frustrated with the way we've been running," Sadler said at Lowe's Motor Speedway. "That is two different scenarios. There's a difference in being unhappy and being frustrated. I'm frustrated just because I want to run good."
As far as his contract goes, Sadler says he's staying put.
"I've been reading stuff about, 'Contract this and contract that,' and I haven't even looked at my contract," the driver of the No. 38 Ford said. "I don't think that's important. Yes, I do have an out if I want an out, but who cares? I want to get this team running. My responsibility is to put that 38 car up front each and every week."
Sadler said he hasn't received any offers from other teams. He also said he's not in a rush to look into the "out" clause. And he said his plan is to return to the team owned by Robert and Doug Yates next year.
"I plan to come back. I think it's my duty," Sadler said. "I love my sponsor. They take care of me very well. I've loved working with Robert and Doug, and they have pretty much taken the company back in their arms and in their control, and they want to make things happen."
