Moore takes over Braun ride

Tuesday, April 18, 2006

Ryan Moore will drive Braun Racing's No. 38 Chevrolet in this weekend's Busch Series race at Phoenix International Raceway, according to the team's Web site.

Moore replaces A.J. Foyt IV, who had his full-time schedule cut back before being let go by the team April 17.

Foyt is under contract to Evernham Motorsports, which is affiliated with Dodge. Braun and Akins Motorsports, which fielded Dodges for Foyt, completed their merger with the No. 38's team's move to Chevrolet, leaving Foyt out of a ride because of the conflict with Dodge.

Great Clips, sponsor of the No. 38 for the first seven races of this season, moved to Braun's No. 32 for the Nashville race and will alternate between the 32 and 38 cars. Great Clips will back Moore in Phoenix.

Moore, a development driver for Dale Earnhardt Inc., made three Busch starts in 2005 for DEI. Moore was suspended in October after a post-race incident at a Busch North race that caused him to miss that series season finale and an expected Craftsman Truck Series start.
