IRP getting SAFER

Indianapolis Raceway Park officials say they will begin installation of the SAFER barriers on the 0.686-mile oval Tuesday.
The barriers will be installed in he corners but not on the frontstretch or backstretch. The project is expected to take six days. "The SAFER Barrier technology is the industry leader," said IRP General manager Ron Anderson."We strive to provide the safest racing venue for our Competitors, and this will ensure the safety of not only our NASCAR racers but all who race at IRP.²
The track's 2006 schedule includes an Aug. 4 Craftsman Truck Series race and an Aug. 5 Busch Series event.
