After Kurt Busch tested both a 2004 Dodge and an '05 model at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Penske Racing South expects to field '04 models for both Ryan Newman and Busch at California Speedway and Las Vegas.

"We're going to use whichever car our team thinks is the better performer," team president Don Miller said Wednesday. "Right now, that looks like it's going to be the 2004."

Dodge introduced the Charger nameplate last season, replacing the Intrepids it used from 2001-04. Both the '04 and '05 models are approved for use by NASCAR.

Ray Evernham said his team plans to stick with Chargers for drivers Jeremy Mayfield and Kasey Kahne. While details have not been finalized, a number of Dodge teams are trying to schedule a group test at Nashville to see if they can come to a consensus before presenting an '06 Charger to NASCAR to see if it can get a new nose approved.
