Hermie Sadler says he is partnering with Mike and Bonnie Anderson, friends of his from Virginia, to form MBA Racing, with plans to run 20-22 NASCAR Nextel Cup races this season in a No. 00 Ford.
Sadler will have sponsorship from Aaron's rentals for eight races in a partnership with Michael Waltrip Racing. As a new team, the group does not have one of the 35 guaranteed starting positions for the opening five races.
Sadler, who is testing at Daytona International Speedway this week, also plans to test at Las Vegas Motor Speedway later this month.
Sadler has 52 Nextel Cup starts in his career, mostly in cars he owned.
"The bug is hard to get rid of," Sadler said. "The situation with Michael came along and the situation with Aaron's, and things kind of fell into place. Hopefully there won't be as much pressure this time, because we do have a little help.
"We're going to put all of the effort we can into these first five races and see where it takes us."
Kevin Caldwell is crew chief for the team, which will run Roush-Yates engines and has purchased cars from Robert Yates Racing and ppc Racing.
- Mentioned Drivers:
- Michael Waltrip
