What does a victory really mean to a team?

May 20
How much can a win be worth?

Just ask Kasey Kahne. Or any member of his Gillett Evernham Motorsports crew, in fact.

Instead of heading to Lowe's Motor Speedway this weekend with a mounting sense of frustration over recent setbacks, they'll return to the track as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' most recent winners. They may not have a points victory this season, but ask Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans if that distinction really matters.

What they have is the all-star trophy from last week's race, a win on the same track they'll be competing on this week. What they have is a bit of momentum, a renewed confidence in their team and equipment and a chance to once more run at the front of the pack.

Whether or not the all-star race nets a victory in the Coca-Cola 600, the impact of this win will carry over into the coming weeks.

Perhaps this is just what the team needed to move back into the top tier of Cup racing once more.

Perhaps, at season's end, Kahne and his group will point to this win as the turning point in a top-notch season.
