Good grief! One race in the books already and no Hendrick Motorsports victory? What is racing coming to?
The Hendrick juggernaut ran OK at Daytona, but, because of an assortment of difficulties, didn’t come away with the season’s biggest prize. Odds were that one of Hendrick’s four drivers would win the 500, but the Ryan Newman Express surprised virtually everyone.
Now it’s on the California, and it will be a shocker if the Hendrick forces go zero-for-2. Remember, this is a team that won half – count ’em, half – of the races last year.
Look for Jimmie Johnson or Dale Earnhardt Jr. to make some big noise on the left coast this weekend.
