Bring on 2008
Yes, I’m ready for the new year.
Santa Claus didn’t bring me a Dodge Viper again.
He also didn’t bring a Corvette, a 62-inch flatscreen television, Jennifer Aniston, a model train layout or any of the other things I’ve been asking for over the years.
He’s obviously an obese man with a severe fashion problem, and I suspect that he has toejam and bad breath.
Bad Santa.
I did get some neat presents, though. Frankly, the fun string of Homer Simpson lights was among the best. I now have the grandest cubicle in a three-block area. I saw a guy who had a better attraction, however. He wore his obviously brand new Dale Earnhardt Jr. brilliant white Amp jacket shopping, and every third person was stopping him to ask where he bought it. He was so proud.
Now, 2008 beckons. There are restaurants to raid in Daytona Beach, traffic to fight at Bristol, crashes to cover at Talladega and cars of tomorrow to follow across the fruited plain.
Let the fun begin.
Maybe I’ll rent a Dodge Viper.
