Can't argue with 'Boogity, boogity, boogity'

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Go ahead and make fun of Darrell Waltrip for his exuberance before, during and after waving the green flag for the first Gatorade Duel today. But I loved it.
Waltrip showed some genuine emotion as the field rolled under him at Daytona International Speedway, and good for him. I would imagine if I was on the starter’s stand waving the green flag, I’d scream and yell, too.
Sure, a lot of us would agree that “Boogity, boogity, boogity” has outlived its usefulness – if it ever was useful – but Waltrip’s three laps from the flagstand were a fun sight.

Feb 15, 2008 at 3:53 AMNOTHING, I mean NOTHING ruins the start of a race more than THAT. The ONLY thing that drowns that out is the sound of thousands of remotes changing their channels.

Feb 15, 2008 at 10:35 AMI'm with you, Lee - I loved it! And in my book, "Boogity, Boogity, Boogity" will never outlive its usefulness or get old. In fact, I have it inscribed on the wall in our basement above our collection of NASCAR memorabilia and it's my cell phone ringtone! Let's go racin' boys!!

Feb 15, 2008 at 5:11 PMI WAS SO GLAD TO SEE OLD D.W AS THE HONORARY STARTER. HE PUT SOME REAL EMOTION INTO IT.YOU COULD ALMOST FEEL THE FLAG STAND SHAKE. MY HUSBAND WAS THE FLAGMAN BACK IN THE 50'S AND I KNOW HOW EMOTIONAL THAT START IS, BUT , IN THOSE DAYS THEY STARTED THE RACE FROM THE TRACK, 2 ROWS OF CAR WENT ALONG EITHER SIDE OF THE STARTER. THOSE WERE THE DAYS. GRANNY
