The 2008 winners are …

Dec 2

I’ve never been accused of being a trendsetter, but I haven’t noticed too many predictions for 2008, so here goes:

Sprint Cup champion: Jeff Gordon. He’s ticked off just enough to come back and dominate the Chase For The Sprint Cup just like he dominated the first 26 races of 2007. And you can bet he and crew chief Steve Letarte won’t be as conservative next time.

Sprint Cup rookie of the year: Regan Smith surprises the open-wheel veterans.

Nationwide Series champion: Clint Bowyer. Carl Edwards and his team is loaded for bear after stumbling home this year, but Richard Childress Racing is simply the best in the business right now. Should be a tight battle, and don’t forget about David Reutimann.

Nationwide Series rookie of the year: Bryan Clauson. The 18-year-old will get a chance to prove himself at Chip Ganassi Racing.

Craftsman Truck Series champion: Mike Skinner. You think Edwards is loaded for bear? Try Skinner, who lost the truck series championship on a fluke in the final race. Besides, Toyota and Bill Davis Racing are pretty good, too.

Craftsman Truck Series rookie of the year: Colin Braun. And the Roush Fenway Racing dominance of NASCAR rookie awards continue.

Average Rating: 0.0
