It's early, but parity being realized

Feb 25
Two races down and not a victory recorded yet by Hendrick Motorsports or Chevrolet.

Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon bounced back from their disastrous Daytona performances, but neither could hold off the hard-charging Carl Edwards today at Auto Club Speedway.

It’s early but the victories by Edwards (Ford), and Ryan Newman (Dodge) in Daytona, have helped establish a different and refreshing tone in this new season.

A pair of points events down and nary a win captured by Joe Gibbs Racing or Toyota. Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart appear most likely to break through in a Camry, but challengers seemingly loom everywhere and in every camp.

Perhaps NASCAR’s car of today is finally paying dividends. Las Vegas looms as another test for the new car, but so far so good when it comes to parity on the Sprint Cup circuit.
