Should NASCAR have put Busch and Edwards on probation?

Aug 28
How many of you were absolutely furious when you read yesterday that Kyle Busch and Carl Edwards were placed on probation for their dust-up at Bristol?

By placing them on probation, NASCAR basically squashed their budding feud and guaranteed that they must stay away from each other for the next six races.

Is that what fans want?

Were you embarrassed and ashamed to see the two drivers trading barbs and running into each other after the race?

Did you immediately think that they were behaving like children and that is something that the sport just doesn’t need?

Did it make you want to turn off your TV and not watch the next race? Or were you thrilled that two drivers finally showed a little fire and emotion?

Were you excited and anxious to see the next race just to see what they might do next?

Has that enthusiasm waned now that NASCAR has basically told them to cut it out?

Just wondering.

When I saw the penalties, it was just what I expected. They both rammed each other post race, so they both had to be penalized. I wonder what would have happened if Edwards did not retaliate. I'd like to think Busch would have lost points, but I doubt it. But seeing the bully Busch get pushed around made me very happy. I only hope his ego decides to test NASCAR and retaliate before the 7th race from now. And yes, as far as I can tell, a majority of fans wants to see Kyle Busch put in his place. His antics have gone on for too long.

I think of it as just a political formality. I mean, they had to do SOMETHING right? Still, I'm shocked to read so many FANS crying for MORE penalties and MORE rules... blah blah blah... in the aftermath of what happened. Personally, I suspect a lot of that comes more from the HATRED of a specific driver involved more than anything else....and wouldn't be surprised if MANY fans secretly wished the driver they pull for would have HALF of the guts and drive and passion that these two have! Anyway, I interpret this penalty as Nascar trying to prevent incidents AFTER the race..... Carl, on the other hand, is the one who has changed the "unwritten" rule of what happens DURING the race! He just effectively gave a license to the Devil himself to turn it up a notch!!! It's on baby!!!! Be afraid!!!!

Probation is just a slap on the wrist. I just wish Nascar would be more consistant with their ruling. Points docked along with probation would have been better & really light some fires. Anyway it was fun to watch. It's only going to get worse.

Compairing what NASCAR did to Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch after a very similar incident during practice prior to the Bud Shoot out and Daytona 500 this year. The penalty is consistent. Six race probation.

My only thought is, lets all get togeter and put Nascar back where it will let everyone drive. Enough of this new Age Genaration stuff. Kyle should have hit Edwards after what he did to Kyle. Don't forget, he rammed directly into a car at Watkins Glen. It is obvious he likes to do that sort of thing. And One back flip is enough for a 10 year old. Nascar used to be exiting and fun to watch, but not no more, it's all for MONEY. Face it. Me

I do not hate any driver. Do I think the penalities were just no. I think they should have lost points. Otheres drivers have for same thing. I do think both Edwards and Busch would make terrible champions one is a spoiled brat the other a big phoney. I also think that you worm dirt are a moron. Most of the time you make no sense.

Define probation NASCAR??Since Dale Sr. and Big Bill France ( race in peace boys )past, the sport has put itself on PROBATION, losing fans , sponsors, ticket holders and spirit. The sport once filled with action, spirit, where underdogs could and favorites fought to win is no more. Men with wrenches, drivers with skill and teams with hard work could prevail is now GONE!! Put them in slot cars and hope they stay on. It's truely sad how they run now, more work and less results. More teams and less winners.Even most of the TV reporters act as if it's all a joke. It sure looks that way. They can't even touch the cars now without wondering what it'll do. 1st to 43rd only 3/10ths apart. It's no longer about good ole boys racing,,, It's an advertising agency that's teaching politically correctness with no teachers, selling a product with no spirit, and as long as people still buy it you know the rest of the story. Play nice boys and clean your rooms.

I say let them race and show their emotions. I heard someone say what Busch did to Edwards was like a football player pushing someone from the other team who just scored. So it was only natural that Edwards pushed back. I think it makes for great TV and a more fun race to watch this week. GO BUSCH

Personally, I think that Busch should have received a tougher penalty than Edwards. Edwards' bump and run was clean; he didn't wreck him, he cleanly moved him out of the way like it has been done a thousand times before. There's a difference between crashing someone and moving someone for a pass. It was Busch who moved his car into Edwards after the race, not once but twice. It was deliberate and arrogant, which seems to be Busch's personalty. And, I'd rather watch Carl do a back-flip than see the arrogant bow that Kyle does after a race. At 23 years old, he should repect the fans.

I'm Busch fan and not an Edwards fan,but I didn't see anything wrong with Carl's bump and pass. What bothered me was when he came back on T.V. and said the reason he did it was because Kyle would have done the same thing and had. To me that is getting back at someone. He did though say that there were points there and he had to try and take them, that was true. So Carl tell the truth the first time and don't try and sugar coat it or make it politically correct. And Kyle you know you would have done the same move,so keep racing hard it's fun to watch.

Yet again, Nascar talks out of both sides of their mouths. "This year, we are going to go back to our roots, let drivers express their emotions." Guess the translation there is that they won't make them literally pay for it by fines, least not immediately. With the "probabation", they are still reserving that right

The penalties were for the actions after the race. NASCAR can't let the drivers use their 3,500 pound vehicle as a weapon. It's just too dangerous for ALL. And by the way Mr. Worm, Carl didn't "change the "unwritten" rule of what happens DURING the race". Kyle wrecks others, Carl simply moved Kyle out of the way (he didn't wreck Kyle) like he supposed to. THERE'S A DIFFERENCE.

What happened to "drivers can show more emotion"? the Busch Edwards rivalry is right there with the old Stewart Gordon days. Edwards and busch probably weren't even sparring. It was just good natured paint trading.
