Did you see Busch’s Earnhardt-like move?

Jul 14
For those of you who still don’t think Kyle Busch should be compared to Dale Earnhardt, rewind your tape from Saturday night’s race at Chicago and watch it again.

Busch’s spectacular move to beat Jimmie Johnson was definitely Earnhardtesque.

In case you missed it, Busch believed he had little chance to beat Johnson on the final restart; he even radioed his crew prior to the final caution to say “race over.”

So what did he do?

He took matters into his own hands.

Given a second chance, Busch slammed into Johnson’s rear bumper on the final restart, darted to the outside and simply outdrove Johnson through the turns.

It was the type of move that Earnhardt made famous.

And it’s the type of move we’re seeing more and more from Busch.

It’s why Busch is suddenly NASCAR’s best driver and worthy of all the Earnhardt comparisons.

Kyle Busch is not Dale Earnhardt. Never has been and never will be so please stop compairing the two. Different time, different cars and a whole lot more money to help him win.

Kyle is only 23 and has the potential to be more like Earnhardt Sr. than Jr ever will. Granted, Kyle is arrogant, brash and could use a few PR skills but he has extraordinary driving skills as clearly shown Sat. night. While he would be the last to admit it, I think he was hurt by the fact that Rick H. signed Jr. instead of showing Casey Mears the door last year. I think Kyle is determined to show Rick he made a huge mistake in releasing him which can be pretty strong motivation. Only time will tell whether Kyle's streak is just that or if his new home at JGR turns out to be the home for a new champion with quite a few wins under his belt in the years ahead. It may be a different time and more money but what we all saw on that track was a fantastic move on the current NASCAR champion that few in that field could have duplicated.

First of all, Kirk, though the media likes to play up the "rivaly" between Jr and KB because it's more interesting to spin that way, KB was released because of his own conduct. He went looking for another ride, Hendrick found out and that, added to KB's history, was the reason why he was released. But silly me, why let the facts get in the way of a good story? Second, Jeff, you have been baiting Earnhardt fans since KB started to win. The comparisons are getting old. Find a new angle please.

76 Wins and 7 Championships- 11 Wins and 0 Championships seems like no comparison to me. This is as silly as all those Red Sox fans that think they are better than the Yankees when the Championships are 26-7. Talk to me in 10 years and we'll see if the comparisons can truely be made.
