Sunny skies have finally arrived in Michigan

Jun 14
BROOKLYN, Mich. – It's sunny and beautiful today here at Michigan International Speedway, and it feels great to write those words.

Dating back to the weather debacle last August that moved the Cup race to Tuesday, today is the first day of clear skies in the last four days of NASCAR racing at the track.

Yesterday felt like deja vu for the Sprint Cup teams that went through a Groundhog Day-like scenario in August.

It was rainy, muddy and sticky – almost like we'd never left. You wondered if it was like this every day in Michigan's Irish Hills.

But today is proof that the sun actually does shine here, which is good news for everyone – especially the most loyal fans in racing who stuck it out for the August monsoon.

Here's hoping those fans who elected to give NASCAR racing at Michigan another try are rewarded with a dry, pleasant race on Sunday.

Welcome to Michigan. We fondly say that rain is one of our seasons.
