Let the blog wars begin, Landon Cassill
Jun
21
Landon Cassill might be able to drive faster than me. But I’m pretty sure I can type more words per minute.
That, among many reasons, is why Cassill is messing with the wrong guy. The 18–year-old Nationwide Series driver and I have declared a mutual blog war, stemming from an April battle in which we both blogged about the same subject.
Cassill, a Hendrick Motorsports development driver who pilots a National Guard-sponsored car for JR Motorsports, has his own blog entitled “Landon’s World” on foxsports.com, a SceneDaily.com partner site.
Landon’s World? He must be in his own world if he thinks he can win this blog war.
Recently, Cassill pleaded with his readers to show support for his blog (http://community.foxsports.com/blogs/Landon%20Cassill/Landon_Cassill/76855) to prove it was better than mine.
“It’s on, Jeff,” he wrote on the blog. “You’re going down.”
How many of his loyal readers have responded so far? Just 17.
Apparently Cassill Nation isn’t very big yet.
That’s a shame, because Cassill is actually one of the most personable drivers in all of NASCAR. He’s as down-to-earth as they come (the guy lives with his grandmother, for goodness sake) and is a genuinely friendly guy.
It’s a double shame that Cassill has entered a war he just can’t win. I’m calling on all my loyal readers (Mom? Dad? Are you listening?) to rise up and post enough comments on this blog to defeat Landon’s World.
I doubt that will settle the blog war (how do you win a blog war, anyway?), but it’s a start.
Landon, you’re going down.

Jun 23, 2008 at 10:12 AMI don't care about the blogging war, but was looking for a way to send you a note, Jeff. I totally agreed with your article about FOX coverage being over for this year. The letter to the editor of Scene ragging on you was sure a surprise....I have not liked the way that NBC, TNT, ESPN or ABC have covered NASCAR the way that Fox has. The FOX broadcasters are way more interesting and personable. Bill Weber & Wally Dallenbach just don't have it. Thank goodness, I get Speed Channel, lots of the coverage there still has those familiar personalities. I thought Michael Waltrip talked too much and is too opinionated, but Kyle Petty is running a close second. I respect Kyle for all he's done for kids, but as a driver, his opinions leave a lot to be desired. Perhaps Dale Jarrett will be better, he does have more credentials! At least I do have HOTPASS, so I'm not stuck with the network coverage!!
