NASCAR needs its own version of a triple crown

Jun 8
LONG POND, Pa. – What makes horse racing’s triple crown great is that it is so hard to achieve.

I found myself rooting against Big Brown today because I think it just adds to the accomplishment of Affirmed in 1978, the last
triple-crown winner. When Affirmed won, Affirmed was the third triple-crown winner in a six-year span.

Everybody just assumes that it will happen again one day. But time after time when it gets to the Belmont and there’s a chance for a
triple-crown winner, the favorite is denied immortality. And each time that happens, it enhances the legacy of those that actually won the triple crown.

NASCAR needs an award like this. One that can conceivably be won three times in a six-year span but also just as conceivably not be
accomplished 30 times in a 30-year span.

Not sure what that would be, but there isn’t much that compares to the excitement of watching a horse go for the triple crown. Even when
it’s mission unaccomplished.

Oh Bob - poor Bob - - PLEASE learn about NASCAR'S history sometime, OK ?? Google "Winston Million" and read all about the TWELVE YEARS Winston had just such a program. Of course, the "NEW" NASCAR is dedicated to removing tradition so - - - (sigh)

Great....Now I'm even MORE depressed by this article!! As if I wasn't dispirited enough by McPackrass offering DISTURBING insight into his psyche by gloating that he was pulling AGAINST Big Brown winning the triple crown. NOW...Ronald Schwalbe points out yet another example of just how shallow coverage of this sport can be. ANYWAY...the silver lining is that i googled the 'Winston Million' and ACTUALLY learned something. Thank you Mr. Schwalbe!

Stay with me Worm Dirt - maybe we can keep him OFF of Trading Paint until he goes to Steve Waid and asks to learn the history of the sport so he doesn't keep embarrassing himself with Kyle.
