Indy, ORP bring unique touch to busy weekend of racing

Jul 26
INDIANAPOLIS – One of the coolest things about Indianapolis is that racing fans can get their fill of a variety of stock-car action.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is racing’s mecca, and it’s always cool to see cars go in and out of Gasoline Alley. It’s racing whenever cars go really, really fast and despite not having the most passing of any track, it can be exciting to see these big cars on the narrow oval.

And then there’s O’Reilly (Indianapolis) Raceway Park, a quintessential short track just 15-20 minutes down the road. Narrow and tight, the 0.686-mile oval provides a great contrast to the big track and also provides lots of bumping-and-banging on the track.

There’s always been talk that maybe the Nationwide Series should run at Indianapolis Motor Speedway the day before the Cup race. That would be really cool. But it’s still not as cool as the unique NASCAR product fans can get on this race weekend at two different tracks.
