TRG Motorsports officials say the team's No. 7 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series entry will run a reduced schedule the rest of the season.

TRG Motorsports officials announced Thursday that its NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team will run a reduced schedule with driver J.R. Fitzpatrick the rest of the season.

Fitzpatrick, of Cambridge, Canada, finished fourth in the Truck series season opener at Daytona and was 17th in points after the first four races.

"The economy has hindered our program, and unless we can get funding to run the whole season, I will be doing a handful of races for the remainder of the year," Fitzpatrick said.  "We had an excellent start at Daytona and really opened some eyes in the series. We have a lot of great things in the works, and I will be back soon.

“We are just being more selective of which markets we race in. I am only 20 years old and plan on being in NASCAR for a very long time, so as much as I would like to be at the track every week, it has to make sense for everybody involved."

TRG Motorsports team principal Kevin Buckler said Fitzpatrick or another driver would return in the No. 7 Chevrolet should funding be found.

"We have supported J.R. with great equipment and put a solid team behind him, but the economic reality is something that has to be conquered by everyone on the grid," Buckler said.  "The team is actively seeking drivers with funding to come in and run some of the best-prepared trucks in the series.”

Very bummed by this news, TRG's Kevin Buckler just needs to pony up and keep the Kid racing. It's ashamed, he's loaded with potential and sure we'll see him in Cup down the road.

Looks like TRG have David Gilliland in the truck for Charlotte, what happened to the other driver or does Buckler only want to pay one salary as Gilliland is also in cup ??.

Fitzpatrick decided to go with KHI. Buckler doesn't need to 'pony up' anything. He is running on a shoestring budget, and has been very impressive with doing so much with so little.
