Stacy Compton to compete in Truck series for Wyler Racing
Wyler Racing has announced the hiring of Stacy Compton to drive its No. 60 entry in the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Compton was a co-owner with Bobby Hamilton Racing-Virginia last year, but the team had to park his truck during the season because of financial reasons, and the team was sold in the offseason.
The 41-year-old Compton has 118 career starts and two victories in the series. He also has 173 starts in what is now the Nationwide Series and 88 Cup starts.
“This group has a long-standing history in the automotive business and has built such a good name for themselves,” Compton said.
Compton will be the third driver in a year for Wyler, which began 2008 with Terry Cook behind the wheel and then had Jack Sprague. The team was 12th in the owners standings last season.
“Stacy will be a critical part of our organization,” team owner Jeff Wyler said. “He has a tremendous amount of knowledge. There is no question that he’ll do well.”
No sponsor was announced.
