Ron Hornaday to start on pole for E-Z-Go 200
HAMPTON, Ga. – Defending Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday will start on the pole for today’s E-Z-Go 200 after posting the fastest time during this morning’s qualifying session at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Hornaday, a four-time champ in the Camping World Truck Series, posted a fast lap of 177.721 mph to edge Kyle Busch (177.306 mph). It was the 24th career pole for the Kevin Harvick Inc. driver in the series.
Matt Crafton, Harvick and rookie Austin Dillon completed the top five.
“The guys did a great job, this is what KHI is all about,” Hornaday said. “I knew we had a great race truck, but didn’t think it was a pole truck.”
Series points leader Timothy Peters qualified 30th.
Today’s race, just the second for the series this season, is slated to begin at 2 p.m. Eastern.
