NASCAR will not implement double-file restarts among lead-lap cars for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this year.
The sanctioning body began using the new format in the Sprint Cup Series last month and then in the Nationwide Series earlier this month. The Trucks will continue to use the traditional restart lineup with lap-down cars on the inside and lead-lap trucks on the outside.
“We took a close look at the changes we introduced at the beginning of the year and have decided not to implement double-file restarts for the series this season,” NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Director Wayne Auton said. “We have discussed this with the teams and will re-evaluate everything at the end of the year. The changes made this season are working. There is a lot of interest in the series and the competitors continue to put on some of the best racing anywhere.”
The Truck series has different rules for pit stops than the other two series. The change, designed to cut costs, prohibits teams from refueling and changing tires on the same pit stop.
