NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch is expected to announce plans Friday afternoon to join the team owner ranks in the Camping World Truck Series.
Busch, a 16-time Cup winner and the reigning Nationwide Series champion, is expected to announce at a 2 p.m. EST news conference plans to purchase the assets of the Toyota Truck team currently known as Xpress Motorsports.
Brian Scott, the lone driver for Xpress Motorsports this past season, is moving to the Nationwide Series to compete for Braun Racing in 2010.
The new Kyle Busch Motorsports would field multiple trucks, Busch’s agent, Jeff Dickerson, said in a recent interview with www.SceneDaily.com about Busch’s potential plans to acquire a Truck team.
KBM currently fields Late Model cars and is in the process of completing a new building that could house a Truck team.
Busch, 24, has competed for Billy Ballew Motorsports on a part-time basis in the Truck series since 2005, winning 16 races, but it is speculated that he will drive for his own team beginning next season.
Friday’s announcement will be carried live on Speed.
