Rheem Manufacturing, a sponsor of Kevin Harvick Inc., challenged nearby North Carolina professional bakers to design and create a Rheem Extreme Cake for KHI’s fan fest event last Saturday.

Three bakeries squared off, with Katiebelle’s of Charlotte taking top honors with a replica of KHI’s No. 33 Rheem-sponsored race car.

The runnerup was Audrey’s Specialty Cakes of Cornelius, N.C., which entered a cake that was a replica of the Pole Position Arcade game.

Judges were KHI co-owners Kevin and DeLana Harvick and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Ricky Carmichael. Fan votes accounted for 25 percent of the vote.

Rheem awarded the winning baker $1,000, and runner-up prizes were also presented.

Some 1,500 people witnessed the creation of the cakes before casting their votes.

Mentioned Drivers: Kevin Harvick
