DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Gabi DiCarlo, who has competed in the Automobile Racing Club of America the last couple of years, will make her Camping World Truck Series debut next week at Auto Club (Calif.) Speedway.
Her team had originally planned for her to make her debut at Martinsville in March.
But after competing in the ARCA race at Daytona earlier this month, the 23-year-old DiCarlo was approved for the race at California.
She will be driving for Doug Stringer, a former Nationwide Series owner and still a partner in Braun Racing. Stringer bought trucks from Germain Racing.
“She’s been progressing through the ARCA series for two years now,” Stringer said Saturday. “California is a nice big race track. … The biggest thing I’ve seen is her consistency and communication and her ability to adjust to a pressure environment.”
Stringer said the rule changes in the Truck series helped convince him to bring the team to the trucks, where Stringer hopes to run seven races with DiCarlo this year. DiCarlo also will drive in 13 ARCA races.
DiCarlo will have sponsorship from Great Clips.

Feb 15, 2009 at 9:10 PMI HATE THE TRUCK RACES ARE ON SPEED, SPEED WOULD COST ME AN EXTRA $25 MO ON MY CABLE BILL. SPEED IS NOT FREE FOR ALL. RIGHT NOW I AM SO DISGUSTED WITH NASCAR, I WOULDN'T PAY AN EXTRA DOLLAR FOR SPEED. JR SHOULD HAVE HAD A PENALTY FOR THE HUGE WRECK. HE RUINED THE DAYTONA WITH HIS BABY ATTITUDE.

Feb 16, 2009 at 11:36 AMI love SpeedTV. It's part of my digital cable, but I would pay extra for it. For those of us who like NASCAR but also live outside that box, we have MotoGP, World Superbike, AMA Superbike, F1, Rolex Grand Am, NHRA, etc etc. SpeedTV does better coverage of races than ESPN.
