Daytona International Speedway has announced that NextEra Energy Resources will be the official sponsor of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Feb. 13.

Not only will the wind and solar energy company sponsor the NextEra Energy Resources 250, it has signed a multiyear deal with  Daytona and Homestead-Miami Speedway, which are both owned by International Speedway Corp.

"We are thrilled by the future opportunity of this unprecedented partnership," said Daytona International Speedway President Robin Braig.

"Given NextEra Energy Resources's track record of generating electricity from renewable sources for more than 20 years, we now have a strong partner to help us identify future opportunities to operate more efficiently. "

Homestead-Miami Speedway President Curtis Gray added: "What an opportunity it is to partner with NextEra Energy Resources in promoting renewable-energy efforts to race fans and other partners at our premier venues and events throughout the state of Florida.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Pretty optimistic bunch of folks here.I think they're whistling past the graveyeard.By my count there are nine (!) trucks that have full sponsorship for the 2009 season. Will there even be a truck series this year ? I hope so,but the numbers don't look good.

I will watch the truck race even if there were only 2 of them racing. I like the trucks they are exciting to watch. I hope Kyle is driving the #51 for Billy. That will make it more fun to watch.

Track sponsors are probably getting a helluva deal in 2009.

NASCAR should have given the sponsorship to one of the truck teams, don't you think!
That's a lot of NASCAR's problem. When you don't have enough trucks it would make more since to have a full field. G R E E D !
