Craftsman Wrenchman Award will recognize outstanding team members
Craftsman officials will recognize one team member from each of NASCAR’s three national touring series (Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck) this year with the presentation of the Craftsman Wrenchman Award.
The award will be presented to those who best showcase core Craftsman values of trust, quality, knowledge and innovation while performing their job with the race team.
“The award will celebrate and reward the everyday heroes of NASCAR who exemplify the attributes of the Craftsman brand both in the garage and at home,” Matt McDonnell, manager of brand development Craftsman, said in a news release. “It’s also the perfect opportunity to establish a personal connection for the fans with important crew members who typically don’t get to step into the spotlight.”
The award is open to all crew members, regardless of whether they perform their duties at the race shop or the track. Teams will be allowed to submit no more than one nominee, and a selection committee will then determine the finalists. The committee will also select the individual winners in the Nationwide and truck series. In Cup, the winner will be determined by a fan vote.
Fans will be able to view the Cup nominees on craftsman.com later this year and cast their vote. One fan will win a trip to NASCAR Champions Week in Las Vegas in December to make the presentation to the winner, while the official announcement regarding the Cup winner will be made Nov. 22 at the Ford Championship Weekend in Homestead, Fla.
Individual winners will receive a combination of prize money and Craftsman tools.
Craftsman, the official tools of NASCAR, served as the title sponsor of the truck series from 1995-2008.
