BAMBI MATTILA/NASCAR SCENE

BRISTOL, Tenn. - NASCAR Busch Series driver Tim Sauter was released from a Bristol Regional Medical Center on Saturday morning after being involved in a grinding crash late in the Food City 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday night

Sauter was held overnight for observation and was released Saturday morning, a NASCAR spokesman said.

On lap 209 of 250, Sauter was involved in a multi-car crash off Turn 2. Aric Almirola spun, but NASCAR didn't throw the caution. Several cars slowed, but Burney Lamar didn't and also spun. Sauter spun his car to avoid Lamar's, but Shane Huffman got in the back of Jamie McMurray's car and sent both slamming into the near-prone car of Sauter.

The driver side Sauter's No. 36 McGill Motorsports Chevrolet hit the SAFER barrier against the inside wall, and emergency workers took several minutes to pull Sauter from his car. NASCAR displayed the red flag, and after Sauter emerged from the car, he walked gingerly in a neck brace to an awaiting stretcher.

After a short trip to the infield care center, Sauter was transported to Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Mentioned Drivers: Aric Almirola
