7 reasons to watch the Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix International Raceway: No. 2 - Mark Martin

By Jared Turner - SceneDaily Staff Writer

Mark Martin didn't just win in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' last visit to Phoenix International Raceway back in April. He completely dominated, leading 157 of 312 laps after starting from the pole.

If Martin puts up a similar performance on Sunday in the Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500, he could leapfrog Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jimmie Johnson for the series lead or, at the very least, close the points gap on Johnson considerably heading into the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Simply put: There may be no better track for Martin to make up ground than Phoenix.

And there is likewise no better reason to watch Sunday's race.

NAH, we don't need Jeff at all. As far as JJ goes, I will be picking him to win again, JUST like last week. LOL.
