Phoenix Racing Inc. officials announced that Johnny Sauter will drive the team's No. 1 Nationwide Series entry in 2008.

Sterling Marlin will drive in seven Sprint Cup races for the team, with Max Papis driving the two road-course races in Cup.

The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, which includes Miccosukee Indian Gaming and Miccosukee Golf and Resorts, will sponsor the Nationwide entry.

Sauter won with the team in 2005 at the Milwaukee Mile.

Phoenix Racing has contracted with Hendrick Motorsports to supply the team with engines in 2008. Additional projects with Hendrick and a second Nationwide team are scheduled to be announced later, and PRI is pursuing sponsorship opportunities for that car.

"Our second team has a guaranteed starting position in the first five races in 2008 based off our strong performance in 2007; we would like to secure sponsorship or a partner to keep that program going" said team general manager Steve Barkdoll. "We would like to add additional races for Sterling in the Sprint Cup if extra funding can be acquired."
