Petty Enterprises has completed its move into its new race shop, a 115,000-square-foot facility in Mooresville, N.C.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup team began operating out of the shop on Jan. 7 after being based out of Level Cross, N.C., for more than 50 years.

"This is an exciting time to be a part of the Petty Enterprises' family," said Robbie Loomis, executive vice president of race operations. "NASCAR is going in a new direction with the new car, so we felt this was the right time to make our transition. The fact that the move was finished ahead of schedule shows our determination."

The No. 45 team of Kyle Petty actually left for the opening test session at Daytona International Speedway from the level Cross shop and will return to Level Cross. The No. 43 of Bobby Labonte is already housed in the new shop.

"It was imperative for us to stay ahead of the game in preparation for one of the most important seasons in NASCAR Sprint Cup memory," Loomis said. "Aside from the move, we made some very good hires during the winter. New crew chief Jeff Meendering and technical director Derrick Finley round out a team of personnel that we feel can compete with any group in the garage area. Those two bring years of success to our organization and really fit the mold of what we want to do at Petty Enterprises."
