Chip Ganassi Racing says its No. 41 Dodge driven by Casey Mears will carry a special paint scheme in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the next five Nextel Cup races.
For the second consecutive year, the car's primary sponsor, Target, is making way for the special pink paint scheme featuring the Breast Cancer Research Foundation's logo. The paint scheme will be used Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway; Oct. 9 at Kansas Speedway; Oct. 15 at Lowe's Motor Speedway; Oct. 23 at Martinsville Speedway; and Oct. 30 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
"It's great to know that we have the opportunity to make a difference in so many lives and help The Breast Cancer Research Foundation," said Mears. "Last year I didn't know what to think about driving a pink car, now I can't wait to race it. I was touched by so many stories that fans shared with me last year, that it is an honor to be part of Target's initiative again to raise awareness and money for a foundation that will ultimately save lives."
Mears will auction his one-of-a-kind BCRF helmet designed and donated by Troy Lee Designs on eBay, with all of the proceeds going directly to the research foundation. Mears will wear the helmet in all five October races. Bidding will begin Saturday and run through the end of October.
