HT Motorsports, Chaffin switching to Toyota
FONTANA, Calif. - HT Motorsports will convert from Ford to Toyota effective the next NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, Sept. 16 at New Hampshire, driver Chad Chaffin confirmed Friday.
Chaffin said the team - which recently added crew chief Danny Rollins, whom Chaffin worked with at Bobby Hamilton Racing in 2003 and 2004 - is busy converting the No. 59 trucks to Toyota to be ready for Loudon.
"We've got factory backing, so we're going to see that program pick up," Chaffin said. "I'd really like to be in that truck next year or in a Toyota truck.
"I love the truck series and Toyota is where I want to make my home."
Driving a Toyota for Germain/Arnold Racing and then Wyler Racing last year, Chaffin was replaced by Jack Sprague at Wyler Racing at the end of 2005.
"We didn't win a race, but I had a great relationship with TRD [Toyota Racing Development]," Chaffin said. "I did a lot of testing for them throughout the year, so they were real receptive to bringing the team I'm driving for back into the fold.
"I've always admired them, I'm glad to know the feeling is mutual. They've taken me back in and hopefully we can stick together."
Mike Wallace and Steve Park have driven for HT Motorsports this season until the last five races when Chaffin joined the team.
