Mark Martin has won the most Busch Series races in NASCAR history, 47, and if Hendrick Motorsports gets its way, win No. 48 will be in one of its cars.

The team is talking with Martin about driving one of its Busch Series cars next season, but nothing has been decided, according to a statement released by Hendrick General Manager Marshall Carlson.

"We have had communication with Mark about the possibility of running select Busch Series races next season in one of our cars," Carlson said. "We're obviously excited about the possibility of working with a driver of his reputation, but discussions are in the preliminary stages, and at this point, we have not made firm plans."

Martin is leaving Roush Racing's Ford operation to join Ginn Racing's Chevy team in 2007. Ginn and Hendrick have a working relationship, and Ginn is also entering the Busch Series next year.

Hendrick has had as many as three cars in the Busch Series this season, with Kyle Busch driving the No. 5 for nearly the full season, Brian Vickers and Adrian Fernandez driving the No. 57 in 10 total races and Jimmie Johnson in the No. 48 in three races.

Busch and Casey Mears, who joins Hendrick's Cup operation next season, are likely in the mix for Hendrick in the Busch Series next year, though plans have not been announced.

Martin competed in seven Busch races for Roush in 2006, with five top-five finishes. Forty-one of his 47 Busch victories have been in Roush cars.

Mentioned Drivers: Brian Vickers
