Hendrick Motorsports has announced the signing of veteran Mexican road racer Adrian Fernandez to drive its No. 5 Chevrolet in the March 6 Telcel-Motorola 200 Busch Series race in Mexico City. The team says the car will carry sponsorship from its regular sponsor, Lowe's, and Hitachi Power Tools. Fernandez, a 41-year-old native of Mexico City who has been a prominent competitor and team owner in CART and the Indy Racing League, will be making his series debut in the race. "I know race fans in Mexico are excited about the race," said Fernandez, "and I think everyone in the sport will see just how many fans there are in Mexico." Lowe's says it has special promotional plans using Fernandez in several markets. Kyle Busch, Blake Feese and Boston Reid are sharing driving duties of the car in other races in the series this year.
