NBC says its broadcast of Sunday's Ford 400 Nextel Cup race earned a final Nielsen Media Research rating of 5.9 and an 11 market share.
The rating for the series season finale is 4.8 percent lower than the 6.2/13 NBC drew in 2004, but the network says the 10 races in this year's Chase For The Nextel Cup averaged 4.7 on NBC and TNT, up 2.2 percent from last year's 4.6.
NBC says an estimated 19 million people watched Sunday's race as Tony Stewart won the 2005 Nextel Cup championship.
