WTF is " goosh "... Like in goose ?? Just brain dead like the only friend, I guess...
CONCORD, N.C. - Martin Truex Jr.'s team has been fairly kind to him despite his not being at the Nextel Pit Crew Challenge Wednesday night when the No. 1 Dale Earnhardt Inc. team pulled off an upset victory.
Maybe they felt bad for him after they learned he had rolled his ankle on his boat and just wanted to rest that night.
"They've been fine," Truex said Friday after qualifying for the Nextel Open at Lowe's Motor Speedway. "I was real proud of them. I was watching the news waiting to see what happened, and when I saw they won, I couldn't believe it.
"They did awesome. ... It's all good. We're cool."
Crew chief Kevin Manion said Wednesday after the triumph that the team would beat up Truex a little bit over skipping the event.
But Truex, who just bought a new house, had another reason for not going: He said he was laying low after turning his right ankle earlier in the week. Aggravating an injury from playing basketball last year, he lost his footing when walking onto his boat, he said.
"I rolled it the other night, and I was kind of resting up getting ready for the weekend," Truex said. "I was out fishing in my boat, and I stepped down into the inside of the thing, and it just gave out and rolled under me.
"But there's no problem with the gas [pedal]."
While he missed the event, Truex couldn't be coerced into matching the $70,000 prize, something gasman Bob Tracey suggested he do.
"That was a joke," Truex said with a laugh. "Put Bob Tracey's name in there as he is the one starting all kinds of trouble."
