DARLINGTON, S.C. -- Darlington Raceway President Chris Browning, along with officials from Diamond Hill Plywood, today announced a three-year contract extension by the Florence, S.C.-based company to remain the title sponsor of the track's annual NASCAR Busch Series race.
"The race will officially be known as the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 through 2009," Browing said. "... [The company] takes a special interest in promoting Darlington Raceway, and I think the sponsorship has done well ... from a business standpoint."
"I've been coming here for as long as I can remember," John Ramsey, chairman and CEO of Diamond Hill, said. "I started out helping my father park cars out in the lot behind what used to be Turns 1 and 2. Then, about the time I turned 21, I started working races as a reserve deputy, because the sheriff could pay me more than my dad."
Ramsey's grandfather, Sherman Ramsey, was one of the founding fathers of the legendary speedway, providing the land upon which the speedway is built to track owner Harold Brasington.
Ramsey's twin brother, Jim, is the company's executive vice president.
