NEW YORK - Dale Earnhardt Jr. isn't going to try to follow in the dancing shoes of Penske Racing's Indy-car driver Helio Castroneves or even think about going on "Dancing With the Stars."

"I ain't got a chance," Earnhardt Jr. said Friday.

But the new Hendrick Motorsports driver would certainly get a ton of votes, right?

"I have always wanted to learn how to dance," Earnhardt Jr. said. "I thought about getting a choreography class or two to be able to go shake it on the rug because the girls like that in the club.

"But I don't want to do it on national TV. I'm proud of Helio because it takes [guts]. ... And he's a race car driver so he should have won because they have the biggest [guts]."

As far as popular drivers and if they would want to go on the show, Roush Fenway Racing's Carl Edwards also will take a pass.

"Hell, no, I would not be on 'Dancing with the Stars,'" Edwards said. "I can't dance very well. Plus there's 31 million people watching.

"I'm embarrassed to dance at weddings. I just don't dance very much. I'm terrible at it. You think you're dancing right and you're just like moving your head around. It's really, really embarrassing."
