Bill Weber won’t be part of TNT telecast today

LOUDON, N.H. – TNT will not have Bill Weber in the booth for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 today at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, according to a TNT spokesman.
“Bill Weber will not be part of TNT's NASCAR coverage of the Cup Series from New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend,” said a company statement released by senior vice president Sal Petruzzi. “As this is a private issue, it’s the policy of the company not to discuss personal matters involving our employees.”
Ralph Sheheen will step in for Weber on today's telecast.

However, since 2007, he's actually become tolerable for me, though I'm glad he's out and that Ralph Sheheen was in the booth today. Where's the love for Bob Jenkins? Am I the only one who thought he was the best racing announcer of all time, and one of the most versatile. He, Benny Parsons, and Ned Jarrett (and Eli Gold and Buddy Baker) are the reason I'm in college! I think whoever said that they could tolerate the announcers more if they didn't inject personal opinions into their work is dead on. That's the problem I have with FOX currently. I used to really enjoy FOX's racing coverage from 2001 until about 2004, because that's when they (mostly Larry and DW) started going crazy and letting misinformed personal thoughts be plastered all over the broadcasts. The show started to be about them, rather than the race itself. ESPN's Nationwide coverage is actually good in my opinion. It's their Cup coverage that sucks. Put Bestwick in the booth, put Jerry Punch in the pits and I think it would do a world of good, though I do think they were on the right track by replacing Rusty in the booth with Dale Jarrett and putting Rusty "behind the desk". Just my $0.02

Kenny is great for the type of program SPEED has. RaceDay and VictoryLane are booth let-loose, have fun, be weird shows. Hence, Kenny fits the bill perfectly.
I wonder if TNT is doing this to see if their ratings will rise?
