J.J. Yeley’s tenure at Hall of Fame Racing has ended. The third-year Sprint Cup driver was released by the team and will be replaced by Nationwide Series driver Brad Coleman.

P.J. Jones is in Hall of Fame’s No. 96 Toyota for this weekend’s race at Watkins Glen International, with Coleman taking over next weekend at Michigan.

“J.J. is a talented race car driver and a great person and this was a difficult decision to make,” said Tom Garfinkel, co-owner of Hall of Fame Racing. “We all share responsibility that our performance hasn’t been what it needs to be, but we concluded it was time to make a change.  This is a performance-based industry and we need to perform better.  We’re confident J.J. will be successful in this sport in whatever his next challenge is.”

Yeley joined Hall of Fame after two seasons in Cup for Joe Gibbs Racing. The No. 96 team fell out of the top 35 in owners points, and Yeley subsequently failed to qualify for four events.

Coleman, who drives for Baker-Curb Racing’s Nationwide team, was under contract with Hall of Fame as a test driver. He is 16th in the Nationwide standings, with one top-10 finish.

“I really appreciate [co-owner] Jeff Moorad and Tom for giving me this opportunity,” Coleman said.  “I have really enjoyed my time testing with the people on the team and I’m looking forward to having a successful weekend at Michigan in the DLP HDTV Toyota and helping Hall of Fame Racing finish out the season as strong as possible.  It is truly an honor to be a part of this organization.”

Finally. Why have they waited this long? Give this kid some time and he will turn into the Cup star they know he will be. I just hope they can support him with the team and equipment. Good job HOF!!! Go 96!

I say Yeley is the 2nd or 3rd driver at Stewart-Haas Racing. He has the talent, just hasn't been given the best of equipment. I do respect what Raines did with the HOF team, I agree that they never should have let him go. I don't know that they see in Coleman though. Think they are stretching, trying to find the next "Logano"

I dont see Brad doing anything more than JJ did, or didnt do. They will be in the same boat they were a couple years ago. They are trying to push a so-so driver into something that hes not prepared for. Guess only time will tell though. Good luck to HOF.

Wrong move? Who knows? I guess we'll see. Tony Raines was ALWAYS the right fallback position. If the #96 team doesn't want him-- then some GOOD team should snap Tony up pronto.

I think that Brad will do the best he can in a car that hasn't always been the best. He seems to have enough motivation and ambition to do well. Maybe he isn't prepared, but he'll never know if he has what it takes unless he goes for it. I think it's good that he's making the most out of this opportunity. I think it will be a struggle, but Brad will gain experience if he makes the races. Of course, I am a little biased because I am a Brad Coleman fan. Give me Brad instead of Joey Logano any day!

...how can you say JJ wasn't given the best equipment...seriously...JJ stunk at JGR and now he stinks at HOF. How else can you explain the 18 with Kyle Busch winning after 2 years of disappointment with JJ? He seems like a nice guy but maybe the Sprint series is over his abilities. God, I hope he doesn't go to Stewart-Haas...

J.J. was never a factor or anything to announce much, just rode around and never even leaned on anybody, I'd love to race with him, He needs some mean pills and a bad to the bone chief that will get his full attention!

The #18 wasn't given the best equipment when JJ was in there, even when Bobby was in there. With Kyle there, they stepped up their game. And what they came up short, Kyle makes up for. Clearly Kyle is a better driver than JJ, I'm just saying that Yeley didn't get what Kyle gets, I promise you that

Put Brad Coleman and Joey Logano in the same equipment and Coleman will smoke him anytime! Until that happens, Brad will just have to make the best of the situation at HOF. Hey, at least he will qualify every week where JJ could not.

If Busch would be in a chevy like Yeley and Lebonte were he would not be as hot. The equipment is not the same.Just look at stewerts performance this year.
