Meg, I liked the flowers, too! Especially the gold/yellow one. I would much much rather look at those than the wrecks. I opened one of the wrecks and ignored...
Yates Racing today announced that the Golden Corral restaurant chain will sponsor Travis Kvapil in the No. 28 Ford as he attempts to make the field for the Daytona 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup season opener.
"I can't wait to get back down to Daytona," Kvapil said. "It's been a long offseason without any testing, and I think I speak for all the guys on the No. 28 team, but we are all chomping at the bit to get back down there.”
Kvapil, 32, starts the season without any owner points to lock him into the field for the race. Although he finished 23rd last season, the points from his car were transferred to the No. 98 of new teammate Paul Menard during the offseason, meaning that Kvapil needs to earn a spot in the Daytona 500 either based on qualifying speed or through one of the qualifying races.
Kvapil, a native of Janesville, Wis., has six top-10 finishes and one career pole in the Cup series. He earned the pole position in the restrictor-plate race at Talladega Superspeedway last fall. He is the 2003 Truck series champion and plans to run at least a limited schedule with Yates Racing this season.
Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Feb 3, 2009 at 2:07 PMThis is really great news for Travis. I like that guy he seems like the kind of racer any team would want. Never complains soft spoken good with the media i know if i was a team owner i sure would want him in my stable. Travis is a good driver and i wish him all the best and i will try out the Golden Corral we have one not to far from me. I am a firm believer in supporting your drivers sponsor. Well now i guess i will have to start shopping at Office Depot. Go Tony

Feb 3, 2009 at 2:40 PMGood for him, it,s a total disgrace that they gave his points to Menard who probably needs them as he is not capable of qualifiying himself, same as what they did with Gilliland, they should be your points as you earned them and put the team where they are now, hope Travis has a great season as Labonte and Menard probably won,t.

Feb 3, 2009 at 5:33 PMThe points switch was basically rewarding 2 drivers that brought sponsors and resources to the operation that sorely needed it. Now other sponsors might come aboard. This restaurant chain could be the beginning of bigger and better things for Yates. That benefits the entire organization. I am not a fan of this switching either but when you have a former Cup champ and a young stud who's daddy has more cash than Penske, you have to take care of them because of what they brought to the table $$$$$.

Feb 3, 2009 at 5:39 PMI agree but will they look after the other 2 as they said last year they wanted to be a 4 car operation, i guess it all depends on sponsors, im not a huge Gililand fan but it would be good if they found him a ride for Daytona at least.
