NASCAR Truck series champion Johnny Benson has joined the list of driver planning to participate in the Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge Jan. 2-4 at the Olympic Sports Complex in Lake Placid, N.Y.

The event raises money for the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, which produces American-made sleds for U.S. athletes in the World Cup, World Championships and Olympic Winter Games.

Benson joins a NASCAR field led by five-time event champion Boris Said and one that includes Joey Logano and Todd Bodine. Whelen All-American Series champion Philip Morris, Whelen Modified Tour champion Ted Christopher and Whelen Southern Modified Tour champion Brian Loftin are also part of the NASCAR contingent.

NASCAR drivers will square off against competitors from the National Hot Rod Association for the bobsled event. Among NHRA drivers entered are Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin and Top Fuel drivers Morgan Lucas, J.R. Todd and Bob Vandergriff.
