The driver-crew chief pairing of Travis Kvapil and Todd Parrott could end after just one season at Yates Racing.
Kvapil was 23rd in the NASCAR Sprint Cup driver standings this season for Yates Racing, which was the revamped version of Robert Yates Racing after Robert Yates’ son, Doug, took ownership of the team along with Roush Fenway Racing executive Max Jones beginning this year.
In response to published reports that Parrott was leaving after this season, the team has released the following statement:
“All that we can say at this time is that Yates Racing started with all new employees for the 2008 season from various teams, and with a full season behind us, we have decided to regroup and reassign some of those folks. Todd Parrott's role for next season has not been determined.”
Parrott has a long history at Yates, with his first crew chief job in 1995 with Ernie Irvan. He also has worked with Dale Jarrett, Elliott Sadler and David Gilliland at Yates and was a crew chief for Bobby Labonte at Petty Enterprises in 2006.
