Tony Stewart's hair will be much shorter this weekend at Martinsville Speedway.
Fans have likely noticed the length of Tony Stewart’s hair this year, but this weekend at Martinsville Speedway, Stewart’s locks will be much shorter.
Yes, Stewart got his hair cut recently.
“To be honest, I just woke up one morning and told one of my roommates, ‘Today’s the day. I’m going to get it cut,’” Stewart said. “There was no rhyme or reason for it. I just woke up that morning and decided to get my hair cut, and that was that.
“I kind of laughed about it myself because there wasn’t anything that happened that made me do it. I just went ahead and did it. People who know me say I look 10 years younger now.”
It might seem a little silly that Stewart’s hair is a topic of discussion, but that’s a testament to how big NASCAR has gotten.
“Yeah, it’s kind of unbelievable,” Stewart said, “and it does say that the sport is popular because I never thought the length of my hair would ever gain so much attention.”
The hair on his head is not the only hair that was changed recently. Stewart’s back was waxed last week as part of “Operation Wax Smoke” that raised $125,000 for the Victory Junction Gang Camp.
But it seems Stewart’s back won’t stay smooth very long.
“It’s already growing back,” Stewart said. “It’s like a Chia Pet.”
